Heather has updated her Tumblr Tag Clouds to version 2. It is now dynamic and the most recent tags appear at the top of the list.

Use http://firemind.tumblr.com/tagged/ plus chosen tag words to create links to tag pages. For example: using http://firemind.tumblr.com/tagged/animation gives animation.

Tags

I am experimenting with tags. Tumblr has tags and a “tag filtering” feature. I was going to create a tags post and link all of the tags but it felt like too much work.

I just wanted a simple tag search feature like the (newly added) text search box at the top of this page. So far I haven’t been able to make one.

My other idea was to create a text area with:

http://firemind.tumblr.com/tagged/

in it so people could copy the code and add a tag.

I finally decided to just display the tags in each post and let people browse that way. I used the Tags Example in the Custom Themes section of the help pages.

I like tags because they are more precise than keywords. Using “video” in the text search box will bring up every instance of the word. For example: “I saw a video…”, music video, video card, and so on. Too much irrelevant information is displayed.

By adding the tag “video” to a post I can ensure that readers (and myself) will find a list of videos I have posted.
