Spotlight Update

I am still working on my “In The Spotlight” series at YouTube. Rather than post all of them here I’ll just provide a link to the playlist.

I have so many projects going on at YouTube that I don’t often get to work on this blog.

Storyvids (Semi) Finale

I enjoyed doing the storyvids series and I hope readers found some interesting videos to watch.

I still have some very good videos to post but my attention has shifted to one of my YouTube projects. I don’t want to rush things here, or struggle with conflicting projects, so I decided to wrap up this series for now. I will return to it at a later date.

GRAVITY by ItsAllAboutOli

Oliver Gregory has only been on YouTube for a month but he’s gained a few real fans. He produces witty vlogs and funny stories that are quite entertaining.

Oliver’s “spoofs” are interesting. He writes and directs them, and plays all of the characters. The stories are a bit odd and have odd characters like Miranda in Gravity. Oliver creates comedy without resorting to the poor slapstick that other video-makers his age often get into.

Special Effects can brighten up any video if used wisely. In The Boss Oliver shows he can manage effects to create a surreal setting for his story.

Oliver is a talented young man and it will be interesting to see what he can come up with. I expect we’ll see many more entertaining stories.

Nerf Wars:Operation Transport Arsenal Pt 1 by thenerfaholic

Watch part 2.

Jack Eastment is a young YouTuber from Australia. He vlogs, reviews Nerf products, and makes action videos.

I stumbled across one of his reviews and got caught up in his enthusiasm and the way he presented himself. I thought the video was a good example of a vlog/review. I wasn’t really interested in Nerf guns but decided to subscribe anyway.

I like Jack’s action videos that he makes with family and friends. They’re not perfect but some scenes are pretty good. Jack puts a lot of time and effort into his movies and it shows.

Kids will like the reviews and everyone can enjoy the stories.

Nerf Strike- Invasion of the Cups! by dominicyoung141295

Dominic de Jong is a young video-maker from The Netherlands. He makes a variety of videos such as Nerf reviews (in Dutch), music videos, and action movies.

I became an instant fan of his when I saw the video posted above. I found the story simple but engaging and the video was well made. With a basic story like this Dominic could concentrate on setting the mood and getting good action shots. I’m not sure if this was intentional but it was effective.

It might not be “cool” to play with Nerf guns at his age (he’s 14), but they do make great props for videos!

I also recommend checking out: Nerf Legends - Fear Ripper VS. Dragonoid.
